CACEE Form Software
The CACEE application was developed by the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers as a general job application form. It replaces the individual forms that many companies once used and provides one common form. This helps students because they need only fill out one form and then make minor modifications for each company. This also helps the companies, because they receive the same form from students all across Canada with all the information in the same order, on basically the same form each year.
Availability
The University of Saskatchewan has its own form-filling software, developed on campus this year. It is available in four ways:
Please note that this software is for U of S students only. Students from other universities are not be able to use it because the "Name of Educational Institution" field has been set permanently to "University of Saskatchewan".
VERY IMPORTANT: The CACEE software does NOT work in 640 x 480 resolution! If you are not sure what resolution your computer is in, then
please read the detailed downloading instructions!
Downloading the Software
You can either click here to download the software now, or you can read the detailed downloading instructions.
Using the Software
The form-filling software is a standard windows application, which allows you to cut and paste within fields. You are also allowed to use any windows fonts to fill out the form, but be aware that many fonts should not be used because they are not easily read. Also, if you are using a laser printer (recommended), you should use a font that is installed on the printer. This means a font like Arial, Courier, Helvetica or Times New Roman. Your printer may have others, but these are the most popular.
The forms are saved as files on your disk drive, and you can copy these files to a floppy disk and bring them to the lab for printing. This means that you can work on your CACEE form at home, and print the form using a campus computer lab laser printer.
For help on the actual form content, see our online guide to filling out the CACEE form.
If you have technical problems with the software, please send email to cacee@arts.usask.ca, with a description of your problem.
Purchasing the Software
You can purchase the software from the Student Employment and Career Centre office, located in the lower level of Marquis Hall (use the stairs by the main Bookstore entrance, or the door halfway down the ramp to Place Riel). It comes on a single 3.5" disk, and costs $5.00. There is no charge for the software itself; this charge is meant to cover the cost of the disk and copying of the software for you.
